Job Description


KABB/WOAI-TV is seeking a Master Control Operator. The ideal candidate must be versatile and capable of learning specialized software applications and have an aptitude for operating electronic equipment. You must have great attention to detail, excellent computer skills, and must be able to work in a fast paced environment.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Broadcast operations including setting up, controlling and monitoring television broadcast equipment to transmit television programs and commercials to the viewing audience

  • On-air switching, dubbing and transferring programs

  • Gathering satellite feeds for broadcast use

  • Preparation and operation of equipment (before, during and after live newscasts)

  • Support the production of newscasts and other live or taped programming for television and multi-platform use

  • Support operation of the station by assisting Engineering, News, and other departments

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Candidate will work Holidays, Weekends, Weekdays, and Vacation Relief.

  • Candidate must have reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Candidate will and must have a way of communications to communicate with work/manager if needed via email, phone, Cell/landline. 

  • Candidate must be familiar with Sundance automation.

  • Candidate will monitor our primary stations channels, and subchannels and check for quality and closed captions.

  • Candidate will monitor various transmitter signals and sign off on FCC transmitter log. 

  • Candidate will download various programs, edit and prep daily programs for on air.

  • Candidate will tune in various satellite receivers to bring in programming for recording, and for network use. 

  • Candidate must be familiar with various computer systems and knowledgeable with various electronic gear.

  • Candidate will download and append next days commercial playlists. 

  • Candidate will handover control from master control to news control rooms for live news broadcasts.

  • Candidate will work straight 8 hour shifts. 

  • Candidate may be rotated to any of our 3 different shifts for training at any point. 


Experience:



  • Previous experience as a Master Control Operator is preferred
